Our pet policy is kind to pet owners and fair to landlords. We know many people think of pets as family members so we work hard to accommodate them.
Be sure to read your lease and understand the provisions that apply to pets. In broad terms, tenants are strictly liable for damage caused by pets, and pets that are a nuisance or cause disturbances or are otherwise undesirable are not allowed. All landlords who allow pets reserve the right to demand the removal of undesirable pets.
Our pet fee policy strikes an equitable balance between tenants’ desire to keep pets and landlords’ willingness to accept the added risk. Unless otherwise negotiated and for a single animal, we hold a refundable pet deposit equal to at least 50% of the security deposit and increase the monthly rent by 3%. Multiple pets or pets that pose a greater risk may increase the deposit and/or rent amount.
Please also note that insurance companies often prohibit certain breeds of animals and will not provide liability coverage. This includes (but is not limited to) Akitas, American Bulldogs, Beaucerons, Belgian Malinois, Caucasian Mountain Dogs, Chows, Doberman Pinschers, German Shepherds, Great Danes, Keeshond, Mastiffs, Pit Bulls, Rottweilers, Rhodesian Ridgeback, Staffordshire Terries, Wolf Hybrids and exotic animals. If you have one of these type animals, landlords may decline to lease to you in order to maintain insurance on the home.

Are pets allowed?

Red Door Company encourages its landlord clients to consider all applicants based on the totality of their circumstances rather than adopting rigid guidelines that may disqualify applicants who would be excellent tenants.
Issues that may disqualify an applicant include:
<ul>
<li>Recent negative credit entries related to unpaid housing expenses.</li>
<li>Recent involvement in an eviction proceeding.</li>
<li>Recent involvement in crimes of violence or dishonesty.</li>
<li>Registration as a sex offender.</li>
</ul>
Red Door Company works with applicants to help ensure its landlord clients have the best information available to make an informed decision whether to enter into a lease. Red Door Company may require an applicant to submit supporting documentation from employers, prior landlords, the court system, and others in order to prepare the application for presentation to the landlord.

Who are the utility providers in the Triangle Area?

In some real estate transactions, the agents work for the seller. In others, the seller and buy may each have agents. And some-times the same agents work for both the buyer and the seller.
It is important for you to know whether an agent is representing you as your agent or simply assisting you while acting as an agent of the other party.
